Marian Brown St. Onge
Sappho Sings the Blues
Where’ve the girls of summer gone? — Gone to husbands every one. Where’ve the girls of summer gone? — No longer with me. Where’ve they gone, my rolling stones? — Every one a wife at home. Where’ve they gone, my rolling stones? — No longer with me. Seems my hopes and dreams have flown — Gone like lovers every one. Girls of summer, rolling stones — No longer with me.
Marian Brown St. Onge retired recently from her position as founding Director of Boston College’s Center for International Partnerships and Programs. She received her Ph.D. in French Literature from Boston College where, before CIPP, she taught French and directed the Women's Studies Program. These days, beyond writing poems, St. Onge is involved in a translation/biography project involving the prison letters of a World War II French Resistance fighter.
